EDUARDIS - AI art teacher

Project description

  • eduardis The Eduardis project develops an AI art teacher (UIU), which focuses on the evaluation of a painting process of students in the remote education setting, using standard computer vision methods for remote learning in art education.
  • eduardis We are currently working on image analysis, software for data annotation, and data acquisition. Students document individual steps of their work by taking photos and uploading them to the UIU application. The UIU uses machine perception to evaluate the predefined steps of the student's work and provides feedback and recommendations in image and text form.
  • eduardis The project builds on a set of 48 tasks created by Associate Professor M. Salak during his many years of teaching. These tasks cover painting, drawing, and sculpture, and they help students learn fundamental technical skills so they can develop their artistic potential as much as possible.
  • eduardis The project does not aim only at university students. Our goal is to create a universal tool for teaching technical skills across different artistic disciplines, including painting, drawing, and sculpture.
  • eduardis Users do not need to worry that their data will be misused for AI. On the contrary, this exceptional project uses AI to help develop the potential of each student.
  • eduardis The planned outputs include a unique database, a software solution for image analysis and data annotation, and an exhibition of student artworks.
  • eduardis The project is funded by TAČR (Technology Agency of the Czech Republic) under the number TQ23000335
The project is a collaboration between CIIRC CTU in Prague and the University of Hradec Králové UHK. At UHK there are experts in the field of teaching art subjects and they are dedicated to teaching, collecting and annotation of data. Experts at CIIRC are mainly dedicated to the research in the area of image processing, development of a SW tool for image processing and automatic assessment of the correctness of the process of creating a work of art and the SW solution of the entire project..
The project also includes international collaboration: in May 2026, a intern from ENSA Paris joined us for three months.
